PORT CAPTAIN

 

As a Port Captain specialising in heavy lift and project cargoes, I have had seventeen years of planning experience in the Australian shipping industry.  Through my ability to plan, prioritise and review progress I devise appropriate solutions and maximise productivity.

 

I am also a qualified Surveyor, with exposure to various facets of the shipping industry. This includes contract consulting work in relation to draft surveys, container claims and grain loading inspections, amongst others.

 

My professional practice involves regular contact and negotiation with varied stakeholders, including the authorities, stevedores, agents, customers, trucking companies, Government representatives, Customs, ships masters, lawyers, and P & I Clubs and personnel under my control at different Australian and overseas offices and terminals.

 

Previous to this, I spent six years in high level management in operations and commercial shipping in Buenos Aires and Santos, the two busiest South American ports. I have also had over a decade’s experience at sea.

 

Utilising my strong knowledge and understanding of the shipping industry, the statutory requirements of vessel operations in Australia and the general service system, I am committed to ensuring timely, efficient, safe and cost effective cargo planning and coordination.
